The College of Staten Island women’s volleyball team went 1-1 today in the CUNYAC Tri-Match event held at Brooklyn College. The Dolphins fell to Brooklyn College, 3-0, before taking a 3-2 win over City Tech in the final game of the day. 
CSI had a tough first game against Brooklyn College garnering just four kills in the three set game. The Bulldogs took all three wins by scores of 25-6, 25-16 and 25-20. Brooklyn tallied 22 service aces and 22 kills. 
The Dolphins were down the entire first set against City Tech before tying it at 20 and pulling ahead for the win, 25-21. CSI was up all of the second set when the Yellow Jackets tied it at 22 and scored three straight points to take the victory, 25-22. The competitive set three saw CSI up 22-14 before City Tech went on a five point run to scare the Dolphins. CSI pulled away with the win, 25-21. The Dolphins found themselves down all of set four taking a heavy 26-16 loss. In set five, CSI took the lead before City Tech went on a five point run to cut the gap to three points. The Yellow Jackets tied the game at 13 before they took their first lead of the set 14-13. CSI tied it again at 14 and finished the game with a service ace by Catherine Ebro followed by a kill by Kaitlyn Flynn to finalize the victory at 16-14.
On the day, Flynn led the team in kills with 15 while Ebro totaled eight kills. Vasiliki Stergouila had six kills, 19 digs and five aces. Nila Noguiera led the team in digs with 23. Danielle Ponsiglione had 12 assists. 
The Dolphins will be back in action on Saturday, October 16, in a tri-match vs. Manhattanville and Kean beginning at 1:00 pm.
