Dolphins softball swept New Jersey City University on Thursday afternoon, 4-3 and 6-5.
CSI started the scoring in the second inning with a Jen Volpe RBI single. NJCU added two at the bottom of the inning with an RBI double and triple.
The Dolphins went ahead in the third with a two run homer by Katie Flynn followed by a Danielle Ponsiglione RBI single. The Gothic Knights scored just one more run in the bottom of the sixth.
Like in game one, CSI began the scoring, tallying two in the top of the second followed by an insurance run in the third with a sac fly RBI by Flynn.
With the score at 3-0, the Gothic Knights awoke in the fifth inning scoring two off of a two run double. The Dolphins made the score 6-2 in the sixth scoring off a wild pitch, a ground out RBI and a single.
NJCU closed the gap to two in the bottom of the sixth with a homerun and an RBI double. CSI was silent in the seventh and the Gothic Knights squeezed in one more run at the bottom half, ending the game with two runners left on base.
Ponsiglione pitched a complete game in the win in game one while freshman Stefanie Solari saw game two’s win with two strikeouts in five innings.
Flynn totaled four hits and three RBI while Solari added a hit and two RBI.
The Dolphins will play home team Baruch College on Saturday, April 16 in a 12:00 pm contest at the CSI Softball Complex
