After a lengthy lay-off, the College of Staten Island men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams are returning to action this afternoon, participating in the Spartan Invitational at Ocean Vreeze Track Facility right here on Staten Island.  It will be a great chance for the Dolphins teams to showcase their skill at their home away from home.

Last Meeting: First time participating
Players to Watch (CSI): CSI is back on the track after almost six weeks, and look for some standouts to make an impact today.  Deavion Brown and Brittani Broderick both won gold medals in the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles at Springfield College in December and certainly will be looked at as big contributors today.  Look for Rachel Edmonds, Sarah Andres, and newcomer Kathryn Ethridge to provide some sparks as well in distance and sprint events as well as relays.  Ommiya Butt debuted as a shot-putter last time out so look for her in field events.  On the men’s side, Liam McMunn and Spencer Milito will continue to pace in distance and sprint competition alongside Jaron Thompson.  Together with Justin Fernandez, the men’s side will try to be a formidable team in relays as well.
News & Notes: Although today’s meet is right in CSI’s back yard, the afternoon’s competition is being hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas College from Sparkill, NY.  This marks the fourth-straight year that STAC is hosting the event.  Teams from California, North Carolina and from around the local northeast region are expected to be in attendance pitting over 1,500 athletes from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III together in various events.  Division I schools Rider, St. Francis, Lafayette, Loyola, Wagner and others will also be competing with the Division II and Division III teams at the Spartan Invitational.
