Baseball’s Joey Falcone and Men’s Tennis star Nick Zikos have both been named CUNY Athletic Conference’s Rookie of the Week for their respective sport. Baseball players Pat Gale and Nick Tingos were given an honorable mention as Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Joe Taranto of men’s tennis was also given honorable mention as Player of the Week. CSI’s softball star Katie Flynn was given an honorable mention as Player of the Week.

Freshman Falcone had a great week for the Dolphins going 5-for-8 (.625) with a double, a triple, a run scored and an impressive five runs batted in against John Jay. Starting in 19 of the Dolphins 21 games, Falcone is the only Dolphin this season to hit a homerun.

Zikos, a No. 1 and 2 spot singles player on men’s tennis went undefeated this week With Pat Thomas, he garnered a 9-8, 7-4, doubles win over Hunter and a 6-4,6-4 in singles. Against York, Zikos took an 8-3 doubles win with teammate Dan Ursamanno. At No. 1 singles he grabbed a 7-5, 6-3 victory.

Baseball’s Gale shined with seven hits and six RBI while Tingos got the win against John Jay with three strikeouts and allowing just three hits in seven innings.

Tennis senior Taranto went an undefeated 4-0 in CUNYAC play this week at the No. 2 doubles spot and 4 and 5 spot in singles.

Softball third baseman Flynn totaled five hits (atleast one in each of the five games played this week), two RBI and three runs scored. Her batting average for the week was a.417 while her .600 so far this season is best in the CUNYAC.
