Women’s Cross Country placed tenth this past Sunday in the Queensborough Community College Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The men didn’t have enough to score but four CSI runners kept pace together to cross the finish line.
Joanna Villegas finished first for CSI coming in at 25:09.8 for 26th place overall. Just a few minutes behind her was Bibi Ghafari in 33rd place with a time off 27.13. Melissa King bettered her placing from last weeks 66 to 60th with a time of 30:22. Kubra Shirazi took 73rd with a time of 31:46.1 and behind her was Sandra Battle to close it out for the Dolphins with a 36:09.8 time.
The Dolphins finished in tenth place with 259 points while Essex Community College took first followed by Yeshiva University in second. Brooklyn College led the CUNYAC in fourth place.
Matthew Pfaff completed first for the men at 36:22. He was closely followed by Christopher Gonzalez with a time of 36:36.4. Shawn Cybulska swiped three minutes off of his time from last week completing this week at 37:58.3. Closing was Sean Kelly with a 38:30.9 time.
Army Prep took first in the men’s races while Yeshiva University took second. John Jay finished first in the conference with a fourth place finish.
The teams will travel to Van Corlandt Park again on Sunday as Hunter College hosts their Invitational.
