Women’s Cross Country captured 5th place in the York College Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park this Sunday. The men finished with good times but didn’t have enough runners to score. Mount St. Mary was the first place team overall while Brooklyn was first amongst CUNYAC schools on the women’s side. For the men, maritime finished first overall while CCNY finished first out of the CUNYAC schools.
Joanna Villegas finished first for the women timing in at 29:55; third amongst the CUNY and 23rd overall. Behind her in the 29th spot was Jackie Jamaleddine with a time of 30:27. Bib Ghafari came in 4rd with a 31:36 time followed by teammates one behind-the-other Rebecca Liu and Goodnews Nkama at 32:26 and 32:33 (2:12 better than her previously best time), respectively. Kubra Shirazi came in with a 37:38 time, over three minutes then her previous best, while Sandra Battle finished it up for the Dolphins with a 45.20 time.
Andrew Pate finished 12th overall with a 30:29 time, 30 seconds better than his previous time. Behind him was Sean Kelly with a 36:53 time and Mike Gratkowski with a 47.18 time.
The Dolphins will run in their last regular season meet on Sunday, October 23rd before the CUNYAC Championship on Sunday, October 30th at Van Cortlandt Park.
