The Dolphins captured an 89-75 victory over Lehman College yesterday evening against Lehman College at the BMCC gym. CSI stays undefeated in the conference with a 7-0 record while extending to 15-4 overall. The Lightning drops to a 5-3 record in the conference with a 9-10 overall record.

For all the good things the Lightning was doing, CSI’s T.J. Tibbs was essentially matching.  During one three possession sequence, Tibbs nailed a three, followed by a Raggiotto trifecta, and then another three-pointer by Tibbs.  The Raggiotto-Tibbs battle within the battle helped lend a see-saw feel to the game’s opening 20 minutes as there were three ties and nine lead changes.

Raggiotto would go on to can six threes in the first half to five for Tibbs.  Overall, both teams were scorching from deep with Lehman shooting 9-of-11 and CSI shooting 8-of-15.

The Lightning junior’s sixth three-pointer of the half gave Lehman a 38-36 lead with 5:03 left before the intermission.  Baskets by Bloochy Magloire, Dylan Bulger and Tibbs gave the Dolphins their first lead, 42-38, since the game’s early moments.  Lehman knotted the affair at 42-all on Sebastian Pessoa’s layup with 1:23 remaining, but two three-pointers by Dale Taranto helped CSI end the half up 48-45.

In the second half, a more balanced attack and some slick passing by Tibbs and company helped the Dolphins keep the Lightning at a healthy distance.  After a layup by Raggiotto that cut Lehman’s deficit to 58-57 with 14:23 to go, CSI slowly built its lead to 12 points with 7:30 left on the clock.  The Dolphins lead would not dip under nine points the rest of the way as they closed out Lehman by the score of 89-74.

With the victory CSI remains unbeaten in the conference at an impressive 7-0.  Tibbs’ 23 points led six players in double figures for the Dolphins, including double-doubles by Magloire (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Jordan Young (10 points, 10 rebounds).

Lehman was led by Raggiotto’s game-high 31points.  George Nimmons and Phil Ductan each added 12.

The Dolphins will be back in conference action on Friday, January 27 as they take on Hunter College at 7:00 pm.
