The CSI Men’s Basketball team has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament for the first time in a decade, and the action will be right here at the Sports and Recreation Center (Building 1R) this week. CSI will take on Ithaca College this Friday evening, Mar. 2 at 7:30pm to open up the 62-team tournament play. It will be a part of a NCAA National Tournament doubleheader. At 5:30pm, Salem State University will play Rhode Island College, also at the Sports and Recreation Center. The two winning sides will then play on Saturday evening, Mar. 3 at 7:00pm in the round of 32. A win there, and CSI advances to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.
The Dolphins are 24-4 overall this season and on a school record 17-game win streak. They defeated Medgar Evers College in the CUNYAC Championship on Saturday, Feb. 25, 82-81, to earn their way into the National Championship Tournament. Their opponent, the Bombers of Ithaca, are 14-13 overall, and have won six of their last seven games, winning the Empire 8 Championship this past weekend.
Tickets to the game are $6 for General Admission, and $3 for students, seniors, and children under the age of 12. The games will be televised live on Time Warner Cable Channel 76 locally, and will be broadcast on WSIA, 88.9FM, and online via CSI SportsNet.
The chance of a lifetime and history hangs in the balance. Be a part of it. Represent CSI and be here as your Dolphins set their sights on a National Championship.
