Join us on Thursday, Feb. 16 in the Library Archives & Special Collections (Building 1L, Room 216) for a talk entitled “Portraits of Leadership: African American Entrepreneurs of Staten Island” by Jeannine Otis. Ms. Otis is the curator of the Staten Island Museum traveling exhibition Portraits of Leadership: African American Entrepreneurs of Staten Island, which is currently on display in the CSI Library. She will discuss her concept for the exhibition, the challenges that she faced in putting it together, and other stories behind the exhibit.

“Portraits of Leadership” highlights Staten Island’s African American community by looking at representative entrepreneurs. Curated by Ms. Otis with photographer Willie Chu, guest historian Cynthia Copeland, and folklorist Chris Mulé, the multimedia exhibition combines text, image, and video.
