CSI President Dr. Tomás D. Morales received the Ellis Bullock Jr. Award from CUNYAC.

CSI President Dr. Tomás D. Morales was among the several CSI honorees at the annual CUNY Conference pre-tournament awards luncheon at Manhattan’s Water Club.

President Morales stood side-by-side with CSI staff members and student athletes as he received the Ellis Bullock Jr. Award. The Award inscription reads “To the person who best exemplifies the tradition set forth by Ellis Bullock, Jr. of ConEdison toward a commitment of excellence in education and athletics for the students of CUNY.”

Zak Ivkovic, Executive Director, CUNY Athletic Conference, had much to say about honoring the CSI President, “President Morales has shown over his tenure within CUNY a longstanding commitment and support to the dedicated student-athletes of this University. His support goes beyond words and is always backed up with his personal appearances, words of encouragement, and cheering for the home team. I know our students and coaches appreciate it and we wanted to thank him on behalf of all of them. He exemplifies the spirit of Ellis Bullock and ConEdison as they have done the same for CUNY student-athletes for the past 36 years.”

Ellis Bullock was the man behind the ConEdison-CUNYAC corporate sponsorship, believed to be the longest sponsorship in the NCAA at 36 years and counting. Each year, the CUNYAC offers this award to someone who demonstrates the bridge-building that is necessary to further strengthen athletics at our campuses.

Overall, CSI came home with eight awards, counting President Morales, with Tony Petosa winning Coach of the Year, and several members of the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams earning awards.
