Sal Todaro earned CUNYAC’s Player of the Week.

The first spring season CUNY Athletic Conference weekly honors have been named and the College of Staten Island has four players on the list. Men’s baseball swept all honors with Sal Todaro capturing Player of the Week, Frank Smith earning Rookie of the Week and Casey Mulligan with Pitcher of the Week. For women’s softball, freshman Brittany Smith earned herself Rookie of the Week.

Freshman centerfielder Brittany Smith had a good week despite her teams 0-6 record in the California trip. Smith totaled eight hits in the Dolphins six games including a four hit game against Cal Lutheran where she also had three stolen bases. She totaled seven runs and five stolen bases in the six games she played.

Senior Todaro led the Dolphins in hits and RBI’s to start the season. Despite the teams 0-3 record in Myrtle Beach, the Dolphins captured five straight wins at home where Todaro totaled ten hits including two doubles, nine runs scored, eight RBI, and three stolen bases.

Veteran pitcher Mulligan captured his first win of the season to earn Pitcher of the Week. In his win over yeshiva, Mulligan allowed one hit in five innings. He also totaled eight strikeouts and walked no batters.

Frank Smith had a good beginning to his career at CSI. The freshman started all eight games and totaled 11 hits, eight runs, six RBI and three stolen bases.

Catch women’s softball in their home opener on Saturday, March 24 at 12:00 pm against Lehman College while the men’s baseball team hosts Cortland Friday, March 16 in a single 3:30 pm game.
