Bryan Moreno was one of four Dolphins to garner a hit in the loss to William Paterson.

William Paterson defeated CSI, 5-1, in Wednesday evening’s non-conference game at the CSI Baseball Complex. The Dolphins fall to a 13-14 record while the Pioneers extended to a 21-5 record.

Going into the fifth inning, both teams saw just two hits apiece. It was the bottom of the fifth where CSI broke the silence in the runs column. With two outs, Will Difede reached on an error and during Sal Todaro’s at bat he stole second and then reached home on a wild pitch to put the score at 1-0.

The Pioneers answered at the top of the sixth. Anthony Dorio and Adam Derner got on base after being hit by a pitch in back-to-back plays. After James Lauer’s single to left field, Dorio reached third and scored on an error by James Lewis. Rob Somers reached on a walk in the next spot bringing in a new pitcher for CSI, Anthony Colucci. Scott Ptaszynski wasted no time, singling up the middle to score Somers and Derner for a 3-1 score. Mike Arecchi ‘s two run double scored Ptaszynski and Somers to close the inning and extend the score to 5-1.

CSI saw their only chance in the 8th inning as they began with a Sal Todaro single and Dan Lynch walk and ended the inning with two runners on base.

CSI had four pitching changes, with Daniel Slevin taking the loss in his 5.2 innings pitched. Ryan Monaghan captured the win that included four strikeouts.

CSI had just four hits to the Pioneers six.

The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday, April 14th as they host CCNY in a 12 noon doubleheader.
