It is with great pleasure that I announce that Charles Liu, Associate Professor of Astronomy in the Department of Engineering Science and Physics and Director of The Verrazano School, has been appointed Director of the CSI Macaulay Honors College, effective July 1, 2012.  In this capacity, Dr. Liu will oversee the Macaulay Honors College, supervise CSI-MHC employees, and the Macaulay Honors College advisor. Dr. Liu will work with the faculty advisory board of the MHC to continue to develop appropriate and rigorous curricula, ensure appropriate course offerings, and to develop and provide research, study abroad, and service opportunities for Macaulay Honors College students. Dr. Liu will continue in his capacity as Director of The Verrazano School, and to build appropriate collaborative bridges between the two programs, while maintaining their independence.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Liu on his appointment and wishing him the best of luck in his new endeavors.

I would like to also extend my gratitude to Dr. Deborah Popper, Professor of Geography, for her excellent work as Director of the Macaulay Honors College. Deborah has done much to elevate the status of the MHC on campus and has tirelessly worked to advance the interests of the students in the program. We will miss her greatly in this capacity.
