CSI is partnering with CleanEdison to offer clean technology training.

The College of Staten Island is proud to announce its partnership with CleanEdison to offer clean technology training in BPI, LEED, and Solar as preparation for professional certification exams this fall.

CleanEdison will offer all CSI students interested in pursuing a career in the energy auditing, green building, or solar industries. CleanEdison will offerBPI Building Analyst, BPI Multifamily, LEED Green Associate, and Solar PV Installer trainings this fall.

“CSI is delighted to partner with CleanEdison in delivering ‘green’ construction technology courses in Staten Island,” said Hugo Kijne, Executive Director of Continuing Education and Professional Development for CSI. “Construction and maintenance of buildings and homes is a large part of the Staten Island economy, and these courses will make the Island a friendlier place from an environmental perspective and help stimulate its economy.”

CSI has always prided itself of being a campus that helped produce successful and community-oriented students who gained their knowledge and skills both in the classroom and through indepth field work. Now, with its partnership with CleanEdison, CSI can extend the great strides that the campus has been making in the field of green energy to its students through these very important training courses:

  • BPI Training class—Students will get a chance to learn how to identify residential problems such as gas and carbon monoxide leaks, poor indoor air quality, energy inefficiency, and other structural deficiencies.  The course blends classroom and field training and offers trainees the chance to take principles of energy efficiency to the next level by becoming Certified BPI Building Analysts.
  • Solar PV training—In this class, students are introduced to solar energy in both theory and application and are immersed in the key concepts of solar PV design, installation, and safety. Students will learn the essentials of a comprehensive solar installation, including electrical components, system sizing, and the mechanical and electrical design of arrays, which is the crucial first step in the certification prcess.
  •   LEED Green Associate—Students will learn about the sustainable green building industry and everything they need to know about the requirements and benefits of LEED buildings. Also, it will provide various tips and tricks to prepare students to take the LEED Green Associate certificate exam.
