I am writing to follow-up on the town hall meeting on the “Issue of ROTC at CSI” that took place on Tuesday Sept. 24. From my perspective, the meeting was characterized by a civil discourse where divergent positions were exchanged. The feedback I have received to date is that those who attended felt all attendees were given the opportunity to express their views and that the afternoon was informative.
The town hall meeting was videotaped and this tape is available for viewing online. There has been a suggestion that this topic be discussed at the Faculty Senate, and I ask the Executive Committee of the Senate to consider this request. The President and I also encourage you to provide your individual feedback. Please do this by sending your views to provost@csi.cuny.edu. Once we have heard from the campus community, we will proceed to a decision on this issue.
