Students can play a vital role in improving New York City’s future while gaining real-work experience.

The City University of New York is currently recruiting for the CUNY Service Corps program, commencing Fall 2014 at the College of Staten Island.

CSI’s Career and Scholarship Center would like to invite all CSI students to apply to participate in the program–a prestigious University community project geared to improve the short- and long-term civic, economic, and environmental sustainability of New York City.

Selected Service Corp members will support a wide range of non-profit and civic endeavors. Service Corps placements will last 24 weeks over two semesters starting in September 2014. Students must commit to work 12 hours per week and will be paid $12 per hour.
To be eligible for the CUNY Service Corps, students must:
-Be working toward a degree at the College of Staten Island
-Be enrolled full-time during the Spring 2014 semester and plan to enroll full-time in the Fall 2014 semester (Undergraduate- minimum 12 credits;  Graduate – minimum 9 credits)
-Have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.5 or a Fall 2013 GPA of at least 2.75
– Have earned at least 24 college credits by the end of summer 2014
-Have addressed any remedial education needs prior to beginning classes in September 2014
-Have the proper work authorization required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

To be seriously considered for the CUNY Service Corps, students should demonstrate that they:
-Are interested in being part of a special and important program that will make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers
-Have previous work experience in a job or as a volunteer or intern
-Can balance work in the CUNY Service Corps Program with college studies
-Show promise as a leader and a problem-solver
-Are able to work as a member of a team
-Demonstrate compliance with CUNY Service Corps program requirements, including attending bimonthly support meetings, managing timesheets, and being punctual
