Although the weekend has seen its fair share of sun, field conditions at the College of Staten Island will be knocking out today’s scheduled doubleheader scheduled for 12 Noon against SUNY-Maritime.  Make-ups to both canceled doubleheaders this weekend are proposed for this week, although exact dates and times have yet to be determined.  CSI has been idle since March 3.

“The warmer weather has thawed out the field, and the by-product is a lot of pooling water especially on the base paths,” said Head Coach Michael Mauro.  “Although the weather is nice enough to play and the groundskeeping crew has done a fantastic job, until the field is given enough time to drain and the playing conditions get better so that we don’t risk injury, then we really can’t risk it.”

CSI’s next normally scheduled contest is slated for Friday, March 21, against Montclair State University at the Tomas D. Morales Field in Willowbrook.
