The College of Staten Island men’s tennis squad was back in action this afternoon, falling to Brooklyn College by a 5-4 count in CUNYAC play at the CSI Tennis Center in Staten Island. The loss dropped the Dolphins to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the CUNYAC, while the Bulldogs improved to 6-5 overall and 5-2 in the CUNYAC.
Play began with doubles and CSI was able to take two of the three matches. In the top spot, the team of Timur Shamuradov and Dan Ursomanno put on a great show winning 8-4 over the Bulldogs’ Elliot Haddad and Chad Stevens. In the second spot Austin Kapetanakis and Jack Benjamin were able to win, 8-3, over Marvin Gill and Trevaughn Daley.
The Dolphins went into single play up 2-1 over the Bulldogs, however the Bulldogs were able to best CSI and take four of the six singles. Ursomanno and Shamuradov were the two Dolphins to win their singles matches both of which went to a third set.
The Dolphins are back in action tomorrow vs St. Joseph’s Brooklyn at 1:00pm at the CSI Tennis Center.
