I am pleased to announce that on Monday, June 30, the College of Staten Island will be the first CUNY campus to implement an after-hours mental health support service for students who reside in Dolphin Cove. CUNY has contracted with ProtoCall Services to provide telephonic counseling for campuses that have residential housing.

ProtoCall will be available for students after CSI Counseling Center business hours (four-day work week: 5:30pm-8:00am; regular hours: 5:00pm-9:00am). This service will assess students for risk, help them develop coping strategies, and identify appropriate supports, as well as facilitate hospital transportation when necessary. ProtoCall will work closely with the Counselling Center to ensure that students receive follow-up care on campus the next business day.

ProtoCall is utilized by many university and college Counseling Centers and continues to maintain a stellar reputation. The Division of Student Affairs is pleased to be able to provide this important service for our resident hall students.

For more information about ProtoCall, please go online or contact Dr. Ann Booth, Director Counseling Center at 718.982.2089.

Thank you.
