The College of Staten Island stayed red-hot, turning back Berkeley College (NY) as part of non-conference play at the CSI Tennis Center this afternoon, 7-0. The Dolphins lifted to 8-3 overall, garnering their second shutout of the season in the process.
Because the Knights came shorthanded, they would have conceded a singles and doubles flight this afternoon, but with CSI ace Nozima Toshpulatova nursing an injury, the sophomore was held out of play, and so only five singles and two doubles matches were played this afternoon. In Doubles, CSI got by with a pair of 8-0 wins, as both the teams of Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert and Madiha Mulla, and Viktoriya Volkova and Michelle Kushnir scored the wins.
In Singles, CSI was lights out, winning flights one through five in straight-sets. All CSI players won with equal 6-0, 6-0, scores with the exception of Aziza Jurabaeva, who defeated BC’s Alexandra Kadyakin at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2.
CSI will next be in action against Ramapo College, Wednesday at 4:00pm.
