The College of Staten Island men’s swimming team won for the fourth straight time, improving to 6-3 overall with a 108-68 win over Sarah Lawrence College today in the Bronx, NY.
The Dolphins took seven out of 11 events today in what started as a see-saw meet. CSI took second place in the 400-yard Medley Relay and then rebounded in the 1,650-yard Freestyle event, as Derek Villa took first place with a time of 18:36.65 and Stephen O’Driscoll took second with a time of 19:36.27. Tim Sweeney then followed with a top time in the 200-yard Freestyle at 1:47.47 winning by a little over half of a second.
After Roberto Hidalgo raced to second place in the 50-yard Freestyle, CSI took top honors in the 400-yard Individual Medley with Danila Novikov coming in at 4:37.17, and Sweeney and Sergio Miranda followed be taking second and third in the 200-yard Butterfly. Villa made it two wins on the day with another victory in the 100-yard Freestyle, and then Novikov followed with another one of his triumphs in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 5:11.72. CSI wrapped up the meet with Hidalgo’s win in the 200-yard Breaststroke, coming in at 2:37.70, winning by 11 seconds.
For safe measure, CSI out-paced SLC in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay to end the meet.
CSI will finalize their regular season when they travel to Adelphi University on Thursday, January 22, at 6pm.
