The College of Staten Island women’s basketball team is slated to take on the Cougars of Medgar Evers College today at 3:00 pm here at the CSI Sports & Rec Center.

The last time these two teams met was on February 18, 2014 in Staten Island, NY where the Dolphins came away with a convincing 42-point victory 100-58 over the Cougars.  CSI leads Medgar Evers 40-3 all-time and boast a 20-1 home record against the Cougars.

The Cougars come into this afternoon’s game on a four game losing streak, all of which came against CUNYAC opponents.  Their most recent loss came against John Jay 60-40.  Nia Tompkins is leading the Cougar charge with 12.9 points per game while Kimonia Mullings is the rock on defense collecting 10 rebounds per game.  Medgar Evers is strangely better on the road than they are at home as they boast a 1-3 record away from the Cougars Cave.

CSI continued their win streak on Wednesday night when they defeated York College 90-68 at the CSI Sports & Rec Center.  At the half the Dolphins only led by two points but a 52-point second half explosion led by freshman duo Christina Pasaturo and Samantha Flecker allowed CSI to pull away.  Coach Tim Shanahan will look for the same production this afternoon from Flecker and Pasaturo and will expect his seniors to step up as well to get their fourth straight CUNYAC victory.  CSI has played much better over this four game stretch shooting an average of 40% from the floor compared to their season average of 36%.
