The College of Staten Island men’ volleyball team is action tonight when they travel to the Bronx, NY to take on Lehman College. This will be the first ever meeting between the Lightning and the first year Dolphins.
The Lightning (3-2, 1-1 CUNYAC) will head into tonight’s match against the Dolphins on a two match win streak and will look to keep that streak intact. Lehman College’s most recent win came against Purchase College in five close sets. The Lightning are led by Jaleel Lino with 67 kills on .291 hitting, and setting him up for that success is Emmanuel Ortiz who has a team high 143 assists.
The Dolphins (2-4, 1-1 CUNYAC) are also on a two win streak of their own and have no intentions on letting the Lightning break their stride. CSI most recently defeated St. Joseph’s College – Brooklyn in three sets to record their second win in program history. The Dolphins are starting to come together as a team lately under Juan Lopez as they are beginning to understand and implement the game plans laid out by Coach Lopez. Brian Sheydvasser leads the Dolphins in kills with 35 while Philip Szumanski leads the team in assists with 55.
