The Dolphins took to the diamond against the Pioneers from William Paterson University in their last outing and lost a very close contest 2-3. Staten Island was up late in the game until a triple by the Pioneers drove in the winning two runs in the eighth inning to seal the game as the Dolphins were unable to score at their final at bat.
The last time these two teams met was on May 8, 2014 in the CUNYAC Tournament which saw the Dolphins on the losing side of a 4-5 score. This will be the first home game for the Dolphins all season as an unlucky combination of bad weather and poor field conditions has led to a multitude of cancellations and rescheduling’s. Staten Island will be eager to step on the diamond and get in their first home game of the season and really start to get the season underway.
Today’s game marks the first CUNYAC game of the season for the Bearcats as they will look to improve upon their 4-10 overall record. The Bearcats went 3-6 in their spring training trip to Fort Myers, Florida after their first six games of the season were cancelled due to weather related issues. Baruch has let up double-digit runs in 7 of the 14 games this season. Jasdeep Buttar is among the leaders on his team in several offensive categories as he seems to find himself on the bases quite often.
