The College of Staten Island men’s tennis team got back in the win column this afternoon, taking a 9-0 winner over visiting Lehman College as part of CUNYAC play at the CSI Tennis Center. The Dolphins improved to 3-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 on the CUNYAC, while Lehman fell to 0-4, 0-3, respectively.
CSI left little to doubt in this one, scoring big wins in doubles en route to a clean sweep of singles as well. In doubles play, the team of Ed Ruffe and Andrew Adia scored an 8-3 win over Lehman’s Carlo Jay Maghirang and Gene Nakagaki in the first position. Both the teams of Austin Kapetanakis and Chris Livoti (No. 2), and Chris Pinto and Raymond Hwang (No. 3), went undefeated as part of 8-0 wins.
All of CSI’s six singles players won in straight sets. Ruffe (No. 1) and Hwang (No. 6) both surrendered only a single game loss, winning their matches by identical, 6-0, 6-1, scores.
Weather permitting; CSI will be back in action tomorrow at the CSI Tennis Center at 11:00am against Hunter College.
