About the book:
When Dina Gold was a little girl, her grandmother told her stories about the luxurious life that she led in pre-war Berlin and how she dreamed of one day reclaiming the grand building that had housed the family fur business. “Dina, when the wall comes down and we get back our building in Berlin, we’ll be rich!”
When Dina’s grandmother died in 1977, she left behind no documents, not even an address, to help locate the property or to prove its ownership. But when the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, Dina had not forgotten her grandmother’s tales and set out to find the truth.
Stolen Legacy is the true story of Dina’s search and long legal battle on behalf of her once prominent German Jewish family to reclaim the building that had once belonged to them.
Located at Krausenstrasse 17/18 in the center of Berlin, the property had been the headquarters of the H. Wolff fur company, one of the most successful in Germany.
