After a busy week of basketball, the College of Staten Island men’s unit will get right back to action this week, and will start with a home showdown against City College of New York at the Sports & Recreation Center tonight at 7:30pm.  The Dolphins are coming off of a tough loss on the road at Brooklyn this past weekend, so the team will be looking to get back in the win column.  The Beavers are coming off of a five-game home stand, and narrowly suffered a loss to Lehman in their first game of the New Year.

Last Year’s Result: CSI won both meetings
Players To Watch (CSI): Will Fonseca enjoyed a terrific week last week, averaging 25 points per game, and saved his best performance for last, notching a 32-point effort against Brooklyn on Sunday.  Edin Bracic showed a hot hand from behind the arc, and he now leads the squad with 25 three-pointers this season, moving his season average to 9.0 points per game.  Tenacious defender Vincent Dacunto is first on the team in assists and in second on the squad in steals while averaging 7.2 per contest.
Players To Watch (CCNY):  Through eight games, Khalil Hamer has done major damage for CCNY, averaging 15.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, both team highs.  Hamer also leads the squad in assists with 49 and steals with 19.  Mark Richards is averaging 13.0 points per game, with David Solano averaging 12.1 per contest as well.
News and Notes: CSI has won the last 10 meetings since 2007, a run that includes five games played at the Sports & Recreation Center.  In fact, CSI is 23-1 all-time at home against CCNY.  The Beavers’ lone win in the series at CSI was back in January of 2006, a 75-66 win.  CCNY’s last three losses have come be a total of just eight points.  CSI is undefeated at home this season at 3-0, while CCNY is undefeated on the road at 3-0.  One of those runs will end tonight.  Prior to Sunday’s game, CSI was 10-0 when Edin Bracic scored 10+ points in a game dating back to last season.  He scored 14 in the loss to Brooklyn.  CSI is ranked 35th in the nation in field goal percentage at 48.5%, that is also tops in the CUNYAC.  That will be tested tonight as CCNY is holding opponents to just 37.6% the 16th lowest mark in the NCAA.  Their 66.6 points allowed per game is the lowest among CUNYAC schools.
