The College of Staten Island’s men’s tennis squad took to their home court for the second match in a row. The Dolphins took on Farmingdale State College today at 1:00 pm at the CSI Tennis Bubble and saw their two match win streak come to an end by a score of 6-3. CSI fell to 2-2 overall while the Rams improved to 3-2 overall.
Play opened up with doubles which put the Dolphins behind 2-1 when play switched over to singles. The winning doubles team was composed of Andrew Adia and Brandon Nickel who went the extra mile and won 9-7 to keep the Dolphins from behind swept.
The Dolphins picked up two huge wins in the one and two spot from Chris Livoti and Andrew Adia. Livoti played well and took the first set 6-1 and then proceeded to finish what he started and take the second set 6-2. Adia followed suit on the next court over and won a highly competitive set 7-6 which seemed to tire out his opponent as Adia went on to take the second set 6-0.
With the Dolphins and Rams tied at three it came down to three through six. Matthew Vesci picked up his first loss of the season today on court three when he fell in straight sets, 3-6, 4-6. The Rams would go on to take the rest of the matches to pick up their third win of the season.
The Dolphins will return to action on Tuesday, March 29 when Rutgers-Camden will take on the Dolphins at the CSI Tennis Bubble at 3:30 pm.
