Players to Watch (CSI): Joe Palmeri is coming off of a great afternoon yesterday against CCNY and will be looking to continue the hot play here today. George Kantzian continues to be a focal point as well. He came into the weekend batting a crisp .360 and has 17 doubles, two short of the all-time record of 19 held by Donald Gossett in 1981.
Players to Watch (NYU): Adrian Spitz is pacing the Violets this season with a .367 batting average, posting a team-best 36 hits, 11 extra bases, and 24 RBI. Look for Jack Walter to be a handful on the base paths, as he has stolen 21 bases this season in 23 attempts. He is also boasting a .387 on-base percentage and has generated a school best 17 bases on balls.
News and Notes: The Dolphins and Violets met for the first time in their history last year, splitting a pair of games at MCU. The Dolphins’ win came in extra innings, 7-5. NYU played on Friday against New Paltz, before that, they were mired in a five game losing skid, which included a pair of losses to St. Joseph’s (BK), a common opponent with CSI. Meanwhile, in CSI’s games yesterday, shortstop Joe Palmeri jumped up the career at-bat leaders and now sits second all-time with 500 at-bats. The school record is 555 held by Pat Gale from 2008-11.
