GAME VIDEOPOST GAME INTERVIEW – The College of Staten Island women’s soccer program remained undefeated this afternoon with a 2-0 victory over CUNYAC rivals Lehman College at the CSI Soccer Complex.  A rematch of last year’s CUNYAC Championship game once again went in favor of the Dolphins 2-0 to move them to 4-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the CUYNAC. The Lightning fall to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the CUNYAC.

On a hot sunny afternoon the top two teams in the CUNYAC stepped on the pitch to open the CUNYAC season.  Staten Island came into today’s game without allowing a goal through four games and were able to keep that alive this afternoon after holding last year’s CUNYAC Golden Boot winner, Chelsey Harris, scoreless.

The Dolphins wasted no time peppering Lehman keeper Linda Resto with shots as freshman standout Krystina Rodriguez rifled one at the goal that just went wide a minute into the game.  The Dolphins possessed the ball for the entire game and really limited Lehman’s chances on goal all game.  The possession led to CSI finding opportunity after opportunity.  The Dolphins wouldn’t find the back of the net until fellow freshman standout Krista Anson would sub into the game in the 21st minute.

Anson has proven to be a threat to score the second she steps onto the pitch and once again proved that this afternoon.  Anson wasted no time and would receive a pass from Rodriguez and find herself one-on-one with Linda Resto where she was able to tuck it far post for what would prove to be the game winning goal.

As the first half began to come to a close Dimitra Tountas found herself alone with Resto in the box and took a shot but had it parried away for a corner kick.  CSI would fire off three straight corner kicks unable to find pay dirt as the half would come to a close.

The women would come out in the second half and continue to dominate the game.  The domination of the game led to the Dolphins’ backline falling asleep as Lehman was able to find three shots in the second half that weren’t there in the first.  CSI would regroup and continue to push forward and the constant waves of attack would lead to their second goal of the game.

Rebecca D’Aloia launched a shot that would ricochet off of the cross bar and fall to the feet of Lauren Smith who would cannon one off of a Lehman defender before finally finding Senda Karagozler’s foot.  Karagozler would fire off a shot far post and hit side netting for the games second goal in the 86th minute.

CSI would take care of business and hold the ball for the final four minute to ensure that they would seal the win over their CUNYAC rivals.

The Dolphins will return to action on Saturday, September 17 against City College of New York at 2:00 pm at the CSI Soccer Complex.
