For the second time since the conference started doling out its weekly awards three weeks ago, CSI women’s soccer pair Catherine Mulligan and Krystina Rodriguez have garnered accolades.  Sophomore Mulligan was named the CUNYAC Defender of the Week, an award she won back on September 6 as well, and freshman Rodriguez won Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week.

Rodriguez has posted highlight-reel material since starting her career at the College, and in last week’s two conference tilts, the rookie was dynamic.  Against Lehman College, Rodriguez assisted on what held up to be the game-winner in the 26th minute, lacing a long through-ball pass down the center of the pitch to a streaking Krista Anson, who nursed the ball to the far post to give CSI the 1-0 lead.  The Dolphins would go on to win 2-0 with Rodriguez leading the way with 8 shots.  Three days later against CCNY, Rodriguez again assisted on the game-winner, this time nailing a shot off of the post in the 20th minute that senior Jennifer Cosenza knocked in off of the rebound.  In the second half, Rodriguez added her team-leading fifth assist on a free kick taken at midfield that found Cosenza for another tally in the eventual 4-0 win.

On top of her team-leading five helpers, Rodriguez has notched two goals and leads the team with 43 shots fired.

Just as dangerous on the back line is Mulligan, who has anchored the unit at center back and was a dynamo last week, helping hold her CUNYAC opponents to just four shots in 180 minutes of play.  Mulligan played the entire way, holding 2015 CUNYAC MVP Chelsea Harris to just a lone wide shot against Lehman.  CSI is currently on a school record six-game shutout streak and Mulligan hasn’t missed a beat.  The team has only given up 33 shots all year (12 on goal).

The Dolphins are 5-0-1 this season, and will put their undefeated and unscored upon records on the line tomorrow night against Kean University at 7:30pm in Union, NJ.
