The College of Staten Island men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are no strangers to the water, but the teams will be diving into the blue for a different reason in early-December, taking part in the Staten Island Polar Plunge.  The annual event helps raise money for the Special Olympics, and you can be a part of the fund-raising.

The goal of the team will be to raise $2,000 for the cause before they jump into the chilled waters of South Beach on Staten Island.  Donors can visit the CSI Sponsorship Page HERE or by going to the link directly here: http://polarplunge.kintera.org/faf/search/searchTeamPart.asp?ievent=1159068&lis=0&kntae1159068=EDC1920970F0430C9CDC1AD8AEF179DD&team=6892692.

The “Freezin’ for a Reason” event is sponsored every year by Special Olympics New York which has over 67,000 athletes training in 22 Olympic-style events.  Athletes and families are never charged to participate, so nearly all proceeds towards the Special Olympics are raised through fund raising efforts like the Polar Plunge.  The event will take place of the morning of December 4 at 9am, and will feature a spectator area and social media correspondents that will chronicle all of the action.

For more information, visitors are asked to check out the Polar Plunge Facebook Page & follow the updates on Instagram at SpecialOlympicsNYC.
