The College of Staten Island men’s soccer season will continue, as the Dolphins earned the No. 4 seed in the ECAC Region 3 bracket, and will travel to Ramapo College this weekend to take on the top-seeded hosts on Saturday at 11:00am. The four-team bracket also features No. 2 William Paterson University taking on No. 3 Moravian University, who will play on the same field at 2:00pm. Both winners will square off on Sunday.
CSI’s season was cut short in the CUNYAC Semifinal round on October 29, and they finalized with a 11-7-2 record. Ramapo finished 10-4-3 this season, not qualifying for the NJAC postseason. They have been idle since October 26.
For the Dolphins it will be their first ECAC Postseason Tournament qualifier since 2012, when they advanced to the semifinal round. The Dolphins are 4-2-1 against Ramapo all-time, and their last meeting ironically came as part of ECAC Postseason play way back in 2003, a 1-0 win by the Roadrunners. The teams shared four common opponents this season (Arcadia, New Jersey City University, Rowan, and TCNJ). Ramapo went 2-2 against those opponents with a 7-7 aggregate while CSI went 1-3 with a 4-8 aggregate.
The other two squads are the Pioneers and Greyhounds. CSI did not face either this season and those two teams did not meet this season. The two winning teams play Sunday at 12 Noon.
