The College of Staten Island is celebrating the 41st Anniversary of Kwanzaa at the College of Staten Island with “Homage and Homecoming,” a special anniversary performance.
The performance pays “homage to the ancestors, whose shoulders we stand upon, and raising up our youth, who shall continue the legacy,” according to Professor Charles C. Thomas, the organizer of the annual event. It take place on Friday, Dec. 9 from 7:00pm to 9:30pm in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) Springer Concert Hall.
Activities include traditional dance, music, poetry, history, vendors, and a traditional Kwanzaa feast.
Tickets are $5, children 12 and under are free. CSI students and faculty with valid ID will be admitted for free.
The performance is funded by the CSI Campus Activities Board, the Division of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs, and the CSI Foundation.
