The College of Staten Island women’s basketball picked up their 9th straight victory last night and will look to make it 10 in a row against the Cougars of Medgar Evers College in the annual BLACK OUT GAME at 5:30 pm.  Tonight’s contest will be full of giveaways and a chance to win $10,000 during halftime.

Players To Watch (CSI): Samantha Flecker is coming off of here highest output of the season where she dropped 27 points against the Rangers of Drew University last night on the road. Flecker shot 55% from the floor in the comeback victory while also collecting her fourth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.  The 11 rebounds mark the third straight game of double digit rebounds.  Staying on pace to finish the season number one in the nation in made three-point baskets is Christina Pasaturo who buried three of her four three’s last night enroute to a 23-point outing which extends her 20-plus point streak to 16 in a row. Angelique Price battled on the boards last night and came away with six offensive rebounds for the Dolphins and turned those rebounds into 11 points for herself.  Price also finished the game second on the squad with four assists behind Pasaturo’s seven.
Players To Watch (MEC):  Elesha Dieudonne is averaging a double-double this season for the Cougars, coming in at 18 points and 11 rebounds per game. In their last outing, Dieudonne was dominant, dropping 30 points a season high for her.  Dieudonne is coming off of a 21-point outing against Hunter College and will look to help lift the Cougars to their second win this season. Janaisha Carrington gets the Cougars offense going as she leads the team with 2.8 assists per game while adding 6.8 points per game.
News & Notes: The Dolphins will head into tonight’s game with confidence as they are coming off of a nice comeback win against non-conference opponents Drew University. The Dolphins trailed late in the game but used a 27-point fourth quarter to pick up their 17th win of the season as well as their 9th straight. Staten Island has been dominant at home this season, posting a 7-2 record while averaging 76 points per contest while holding their opponents to a paltry 59 points per game. When playing against the Cougars, the Dolphins currently hold a 20-game win streak over them with the last loss coming in 2007 where they fell 68-75. The Cougars have yet to win on the road this season and are averaging just 43 points per outing. The third quarter is the Cougars’ worst quarter points wise as they have scored 209 of their 951 points in that quarter.  For the Dolphins the opening stanza is their most productive as they have outscored their opponents 448-281.  Pasaturo is now in the top-10 in points per game in the nation coming in with 22.5 points per game.  Pasaturo is also atop the list in three’s made in the nation taking the number one spot with 83, seven more than the next closest player. Staten Island’s nationally ranked defense will be on display tonight and will look to capitalize on the turnovers they force tonight.
