Fresh off of their CUNYAC Championship participation, the CSI Swimming & Diving programs are being represented at the Metropolitan Swimming & Diving Championship at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ.  The Metro Championship features athletes spanning all NCAA Divisions competing in 42 total events that start on Friday morning and conclude on Sunday evening

Swimmers to Watch (CSI): CSI is sending a total of 13 swimmers and divers to the championship with many looking for peak performances.  Expect senior Timothy Sweeney to contend in his signature butterfly events and five events overall.  Nicholas Defonte will look for positive results in backstroke competition, while Jonathan Gorinshteyn will look to handle well in breaststroke events.  Derek Villa will provide CSI with depth in freestyle competition, while the duo of Ayman and Adil El Haddad will score on the diving boards.  Over on the women’s side, Ewa Wojciechowska will be featured in sprint freestyle events whil Naomi Gaggi will look to fill gaps in distance events.  Alicia Defonte will also represent while Nouran Abualam will be featured on the diving boards.
News and Notes: The CSI Dolphins are coming off of their fourth-straight CUNYAC Championship on the men’s side while the women placed third overall in the seven-team field.  The Metro Championship is a three-day event.  Twelve events will be featured on Friday, with 16 more events to follow on Saturday, followed by the 14 events on Sunday.  Morning preliminaries will distinguished who will be asked back for finals competition in the evening.
