The City University of New York Athletic Conference has announced its 2017 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Postseason Tournament Championship draw, and the Dolphins have earned byes on both sides.  CSI officially ushers in their portion of championship play this Saturday with women’s action.

The CSI women finished 13-3 in CUNYAC play, and earned the No. 3 seed in the eight-team tournament.  That merits them a one-round pass in postseason play.  The tournament will open on Thursday evening.  There, No. 6 John Jay College (3-13) will host No. 7 York College (2-14) at 5pm.  The winner of that game will face No. 3 CSI at the Sports & Recreation Center on Saturday at 1pm.  In the other opening round game, No. 5 CCNY (6-10) will face No. 8 Medgar Evers (1-15) at 6pm.  The winner of that game will face No. 4 Hunter College (8-8) on Saturday, also at 1pm.

On the men’s side, the 16-0 Dolphins earned the tournament’s No. 1 seed and they earned an automatic pass into semifinal play at CCNY next Wednesday.  Before that, starting on Friday night, No. 5 John Jay (8-8) will host No. 8 Medgar Evers (3-13) at 7:00pm.  The winner of that game will then play on Sunday at 2pm against No. 4 Baruch College (10-6).  Next up, No. 6 Hunter College (6-10) will host No. 7 Brooklyn College (4-12) at 6pm on Friday.  The winner of that game plays No. 3 Lehman College (11-5) in the Bronx, Sunday at 1pm.

Sunday’s winners will then advance to semifinal play at CCNY on Wednesday, February 22.  CSI will await the winner of the game played at Baruch, for a 6pm showdown, and that will be followed by No. 2 CCNY (12-4), taking on the winner of the game played at Lehman, at 8pm.  The semifinal winners on Wednesday play for the CUNYAC Championship on Friday at 8:30pm.
