The College of Staten Island softball and baseball teams are on familiar ground this weekend, battling for the right to defend their CUNYAC Championships on the tournament’s final day at the CSI campus. Both teams have clinched a championship berth today and will look to lift that trophy by this afternoon. Below is a breakdown of what is on tap this afternoon at CSI.
SOFTBALL
At 11:00am, No. 3 seeded Lehman College will take on No. 2 Hunter College for the right to face CSI in the Championship Game(s). The loser will be eliminated from the tournament. Yesterday, Lehman defeated Hunter, 4-1. The winner of that game will face CSI at 1:15pm for the Championship. CSI needs to only win one game to secure the championship, while the winner of the Lehman/Hunter game will have to beat the Dolphins twice to win it. If a third game is necessary, game time will be 3:30pm. The Dolphins are the four-time defending CUNYAC champs and have won 14-straight CUNYAC postseason games dating back to 2013.
