The College of Staten Island women’s cross-country team was short-handed this morning, but still managed to fare in the Bard College 5K Invitational held on their campus at Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. CSI finished in 18th place, as five athletes crossed the line in total.
CSI was led at the front by Veronia Lornzo, who came in at 23:47, good for 80th overall (72nd scorer) in the 153-woman field. Jessica Lin made good on cutting her time significantly, racing in at 26:58 to come in at 119th (93rd). The third woman to cross was fellow freshman Stephanie DaSilva, who tallied a time of 29:59 which put her at 135th overall (106th).
Rounding ot the CSI rotation was Moet Askew (34:09) and Victoria DeBernardo (34:10) who finished almost simultaneously.
Up next for CSI will be their very own Invitational at Staten Island’s Clove Lakes Park, this coming Saturday, September 30, at 10:00am. It will mark the first 6k race of the season for the women’s team after two consecutive 5k races.
