The College of Staten Island women’s soccer squad clinched their third-straight CUNYAC Championship on Saturday and has learned their fate for the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. The Dolphins will travel to Baltimore, Maryland, and will take on Johns Hopkins University. Connecticut College will take on Wilkes University in the other opening round game that will take place on Saturday at the JHU campus. The two winners face off on Sunday.
The Dolphins are making their third trip to the NCAA National Championship, having fallen to Messiah in both 2015 & 2016. Saturday’s meeting with JHU will be the first in team history.
Johns Hopkins is a member of the Centennial Conference, and sport a 15-2-3 record this season, falling to Swarthmore College on penalty kicks, 3-1, after a 2-2 tie in their conference’s championship on Saturday. The two teams shared no common opponents.
Connecticut College finished the season 12-3-1. They fell to Amherst College, 1-0, in the NESCAC Quarterfinals, and have been idle since October 28. They play a 13-3-3 Wilkes team that lost the MAC-Freedom Conference Championship against Misericordia University, 1-0.
