ROBERT MIGLINO SIGNS WITH CSI BASEBALL

Staten Island, NY | Head Coach Michael Mauro and the College of Staten Island baseball program is proud to announce the celebratory signing of St. Edmund Prep High School senior Robert Miglino.  The outfielder turned pitcher can add value all over the diamond, and the coaching staff at CSI worked hard to bring him aboard.

A fixture in the Eagles lineup, Miglino has been playing baseball for over 12 years, and will certainly be tasked to work the outfield and be a force at the plate as a left-handed slugger.  He’s recently found himself on the mound as well during his senior year, something he may transfer to as a southpaw arm while in a Dolphins uniform, although he is recruited to occupy the outfield. Miglino also played for the New York Prospects, Freedom Baseball and New York Vipers Baseball organizations.  Making CSI his choice was an easy one, according to the Brooklyn native.

“I chose CSI because of its great Physical Therapy program, and after speaking with other College coaches and then finally meeting Coach Mauro and his staff, I realized that this was definitely the school I felt most comfortable at and wanted to be a part of,” he said.  “The school and the campus exceeded all of my expectations.”

Miglino brings to CSI a high school career batting average of .363 in his first three years at SEPHS, with 39 stolen bases and a .587 on base percentage. He was also one of three students selected to be part of an Athletic Department internship, where he worked hand in hand with the Athletic Directors, assisting them with all sport related activities.  He knows that his passion for the game and his penchant for being a leader will help him in the transition to the college game.

“After playing four years of high school baseball and being the varsity captain, I like to think of myself as a good leader and teammate,” Miglino stated.  “I hope my love for the game and my hard work and dedication will bring great morale to my teammates.”

Coach Mauro agrees.  “We saw him at a couple of games last year and we just liked his attitude and the way he played all-around,” said Mauro.  “He’s that prototypical leadoff or two-hitter with a great eye and good speed.  He’s that lefty bat in the top of the lineup that poses problems for other teams that has been rare here, and I think he is going to do very well.”

The son of Robert and Jackie Miglino, Robert is a Coach’s Award winner and achieved 1st and 2nd Honors while at St. Edmund’s Prep.  He has a younger sister, Alyssa.

The CSI Baseball squad recently completed its regular season this past weekend, and are looking to defend their CUNYAC Championship this week and into the weekend, when they host the yearly tournament again.
