As you may know, CUNY Chancellor Matos Rodríguez recently announced that “in the interest of public health and well-being, commencement ceremonies for those graduating this Spring are going to be conducted virtually.”

We all miss the pomp and circumstance of the in-person ceremony, but please know that the Commencement Committee is planning to honor graduates with an inspiring virtual ceremony that will be released on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 9:30am. The virtual ceremony will include dignitaries and student and faculty speakers, as well as feature an individual slide for each graduate that consists of a photograph, their name, major, degree, and Latin honors, if awarded.

The virtual ceremony will be pre-recorded so graduates, their family and friends, and the CSI community may view it at the time most convenient to them.

We know this is not how the Class of 2021 planned to end their collegiate experience, and we understand the disappointment. Please know that the CSI faculty and staff are saddened that we cannot give the traditional in-person celebration, but we look forward to providing a memorable sendoff.
