The History Department Spring 2023 History Lecture Series presents “Lockdown Staten Island: Telling the Story of COVID on the Island,” a talk and discussion with Professor Susan Smith-Peter, Professor of History and Director of the Public History Advanced Certificate program at CSI. The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 24 at 2:00pm via Zoom.

The moderators will be Professor Eric A. Ivison and Adjunct Assistant Professor Joseph Frusci.

CSI History Professor Susan Smith-Peter unveils a new project, “Lockdown Staten Island, about the early part of the pandemic. she will be asking CSI faculty, staff, and students, as well as members of the Staten Island community, to submit their photos and
videos of their own experiences in order to create a documentary.

This public history project to tell the story of COVID on Staten Island has already been featured at the Museum of the City of New York and in a book about teaching during the pandemic published by Harvard University Press.
