College of Staten Island Professor Matt Brim recently collaborated on an OpEd with Jessica Murray, Director of Digital Communications for Transformative Learning in the Humanities at CUNY, on the benefits of writing educational narratives for college students, helping stuidents turn questions they have about why they are in college into educational goals. In their piece, Brim and Murray argue that “Educational narratives promote slow active learning. Like narratives in literature that relate events and characters, active learning helps students to piece together their own educational moments, experiences and influences.”

The OpEd has been featured in many publications, including Inside Higher Ed, KSN Media, Illuminati Press, and Portland Local News.
