On Monday, a plaque in memory of Andrew DiLorenzo, Class of 2012, was unveiled at WSIA studios at the College of Staten Island. DiLorenzo, a Communications major who spent a majority of his time at WSIA and writing for the school newspaper, The Banner, lost his battle to lung cancer in 2021. The special tribute also comes with a campaign to raise funds for the station, a “home away from home” for DiLorenzo and students like him finding their way in media.
Staten Island Advance reporter Priya Shahi attended the ceremony yesterday, organized by the College and members of Andrew’s family, including his wife, Gabrielle Austein-DiLorenzo. The piece covers Andrew’s passion for media and for WSIA, and the effect he had on the faculty, staff, and students at CSI. See the full story on the Staten Island Advance Website.
The Fund for WSIA in Memory of Andrew DiLorenzo is currently raising funds for WSIA’s greatest needs such as support for student programming, materials for outreach, technology requirements, and necessary repairs.
