The College of Staten Island celebrated the confirmation of a new AAS Nursing graduating class in a Pinning Ceremony held at the College’s Center for the Arts. A total of 46 graduates were honored, taking their oaths and rejoicing in post event activities with faculty, family, and friends.

Today’s ceremony featured AAS Class of 2024 graduate Isabel Gangi serving as Master of Cermonies, who introduced several speakers including Interim Dean of Health Sciences H. Michael Dreher PhD and Provost Michael Steiper PhD. Fellow graduate Jacob Ladin offered remarks on behalf of the graduating class, before guest speaker Victoria Orleman MSM, RNC, IBCLC, the Assistant Vice President for Women’s & Children’s Services at Richmond University Medical Center, took the podium, imparting wisdom earned through the years and the impact nurses are making in today’s landscape.

Under the direction of Success Coaching Program Coordinator Karen Arca-Contreras and Professor and Nursing Chair Susan J. Brillhart, the graduating class was then presented with their pins, and recited the Nurses Pledge after recieving their lamps and candles. Special guest Jennifer Macchiarola presented a pair of awards as well. Mariam A Hafez was awarded the Patricia Rosenblum Memorial Award, and James E. Fiorelli earned the Mary Ellen Porter Memorial Award.
