The creative spirit of the College of Staten Island’s film community is in the spotlight on the latest episode of CUNY TV Presents, now available to watch on CUNY TV and the CUNY TV YouTube Page.
In this latest episode, filmmakers John Rizzo, Zaenob Aremu-Bashir, and Stacey Petrov join Mitchell Lovell, director of the College of Staten Island Film Festival, for an engaging conversation about their work, inspirations, and the collaborative energy that drives CSI’s filmmaking culture.
In this in-depth conversation, the filmmakers discuss their projects, their filmmaking and editing processes, and the inspirations and influences that have shaped their storytelling. They also reflect on how the CSI Film Program, and the CSI Film Festival gave them the confidence to pursue their craft, connect with other artists, and continue to evolve as filmmakers. The discussion captures how the festival has provided a platform for growth, creativity, and a lasting sense of community.
The episode also features a special showcase of short films that explore themes of community, emotion, and artistic experimentation, including It’s Such a Good Day for a Festival, WSIA: 40 Years, Solicitors!, The Class of 2020, Ramyun & Tangerines, The Box, and Waiting Room.
The full CSI Film Festival Showcase airs every weekend—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 2 PM—from November 7 through December 4 on CUNY TV. Viewers can tune in on Spectrum/Optimum 75, Antenna 25.3, RCN 77, and Verizon FiOS 30. The full showcase is also available to stream all month long on YouTube (see below).
A partnership between CUNY TV and local film festivals, CUNY TV Presents highlights the diverse voices shaping New York City’s independent film scene, with a focus on the exceptional talent emerging from CUNY campuses.
