The Staten Island Small Business Development Center (SBDC) celebrated SBDC Day on March 18 with several of its clients at Joyce’s Tavern in Eltingville.
Observed on the third Wednesday of March every year, SBDC Day recognizes the work of the nationwide network of SBDCs and their collective accomplishments in helping America’s small businesses succeed.
“I feel SBDC Day presents us a great opportunity to say thank you to our clients for trusting and allowing us the opportunity to help them. We know running a business or non-profit is no easy task, so we feel fortunate that we’re able to assist them in any way,” said Staten Island SBDC Regional Director, Michael Anderson. “Whether you’re just starting out or ready to grow, our advisors provide one-on-one individual support.”
The Staten Island SBDC, hosted at the College of Staten Island, offers no-cost market research, business start-up guidance, financial and accounting support, marketing assistance, government contracting support, and more. Since its inception in 1993, over 14,700 clients have been counseled by the Staten Island SBDC.

“We look forward to helping small businesses and nonprofits, especially because we know the impact they have in their local communities. Since we assist businesses at various stages, we meet and reach so many different entrepreneurs in a wide range of industries,” said Anderson. “We were thankful that some of our clients took the time out of their schedules to come to SBDC Day and celebrate with us.”
The Staten Island SBDC covers the entire 11th Congressional District in Staten Island and South Brooklyn. The staff takes a “feet on the street” approach by visiting clients and neighborhoods throughout the borough.
Each month, the Staten Island SBDC offers several webinars to educate businesses on various topics. Some upcoming webinars in 2026 include AI for small businesses, cybersecurity, business insurance, business plans, and business formation.
