The College of Staten Island’s Small Business Development Center recently partnered with Richmond County District Attorney Michael E. McMahon and Council Member David Carr in hosting a free community paper shredding event aimed at helping residents safely dispose of sensitive documents and protect themselves from identity theft. The event drew strong community participation, with 160 vehicles taking part and more than 3.6 tons of paper securely shredded.
The initiative provided Staten Islanders with a convenient and environmentally responsible way to destroy personal records while raising awareness about fraud prevention and information security. Through collaborations like these, the SBDC and its partners continue to offer valuable resources that support both local residents and the broader Staten Island community.
