The CUNY Institute of Mexican Studies is pleased to announce its second year of IME BECAS. The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled or accepted to any of the CUNY colleges. The scholarship will award full tuition for one academic year for undergraduate students and one semester for graduate students.
In addition to the scholarship, recipients will be expected to complete internships for a total of 15 hours per week during one semester or ten hours per week throughout the academic year, in an affiliated nonprofit institution. The recipients will also become members of the Becarios Network that will provide them with access to exclusive mentoring and activities.
-Recipients will be selected based on academic merit, financial need, and commitment to service to the Mexican community.
-Preference will be given to candidates who secure commitment of matching funds from their home campus.

2. Transcript;
3. Statement of Financial need (one page): Describe your financial situation and that of your family, including eligibility for financial aid or scholarships, employment, health and other issues. Be specific and detailed.
4. Personal statement (one page) that includes attention to community service experience with the Mexican immigrant community, commitment to community advancement, obstacles faced in education, and what this scholarship would mean to you;
5. One letter of recommendation (ask recommender to email this directly to mexican.studies@lehman.cuny.edu); and
6. (Optional) letter of commitment of matching funds.
